Partnerships make the world go round and round. You need partnerships to help your individuality and name to catch fire even without the Internet.

You can’t have a business conversation without considering the Internet in some way and no one thrives without partnerships in the digital asset space.

As I teach, coach, and preach to job seekers, the same themes resonate over and over again in my clients’ success stories.

Their digital portfolio as a whole and the connections he/she established in validating core competencies through referrals or recommendations.

I am not just talking about connecting but establishing a mutual exchange of building one another’s momentum towards greatness.

It takes a lot of selflessness to accomplish this but even the “Lone Ranger” couldn’t do it alone.

After 50 years, The Beatles music is a tremendously valuable asset.  Although they don’t own the rights to their music, thanks to the late King of Pop Michael Jackson. Digital sales from music recorded decades ago still morphs their individual sales collectively today.

Small businesses, need partnerships, as an essential marketing tool for five good reasons:

1) We Can Work It Out

Considering my own partnerships as an example, Sandra Tedford and I are too busy to meet together regularly although we find ways to communicate ideas, thoughts, and ask advice of each other. We are in two different niches but find ways to work together.

She is the smarter of the two of us (in my opinion) and her contributions matter. It works out when each partner’s content and advice helps the other.

2) Revolution

Great partnerships are revolutionary and strange to those who won’t embrace someone’s brand. If one has a radical vision and idea, a great partner in the digital divide will just ride on the other’s vision especially if there is no cost to the other. Trust is a keyword anywhere and it takes time to earn it.

3) Help

Two is always better than one. Creating your own digital asset is hard work. You feel like quitting at times but the other won’t let you. That’s what you need. Someone to help carry the load.

4) The Magical Mystery Tour

Going through the webosphere with someone you trust makes the journey that much easier and palatable. Ideally, you can leverage one another contacts, knowledge, comments, links if you are both blogging. You can also contribute to each others blog and build a community together.

Even if the niches are different, there are ways to contribute giving the illusion of a bigger interest blog.

5) The Long and Winding Road

Claiming and creating digital assets is a road that seems longest when traveled solo. It is critical to establish and own your name and brand but it helps to have someone to help validate your web presence.

As each partner builds his or her network and digital assets also will build work one another web presence like yeast through a batch of dough.

No one creates meaningful digital assets without help from others. Even one partner is a start and it takes time to align a photo that sells you and your services credibly. The feedback you receive is valuable and Lawd knows we all could use a little help from our friends.
